Program's Overview

Since 2010, INES-Ruhengeri has been at the forefront of training skilled professionals in land surveying at the undergraduate level through its Department of Land Survey. Our graduates have consistently met the high standards expected by industrial partners. However, an in-depth market needs assessment has highlighted several gaps in the field, including a shortage of experts in geospatial data management and geodetic systems. This gap is especially evident with the advancement of modern surveying tools and techniques, which require specialized knowledge in geodetic system maintenance and the application of advanced modelling techniques.

The Master of Science in Geo-Informatics is designed to address these challenges by equipping graduates with the expertise needed to handle complex geospatial and geodetic issues. This program will train students to make informed decisions by analyzing and visualizing geographic information, which is crucial for effective decision-making across various sectors.

Graduates of the MSc in Geo-Informatics will be prepared to tackle significant societal challenges, including climate change, security, urban development, and the development of advanced mobile applications. By bridging the existing gaps in the industry, this program will contribute to the advancement of geospatial sciences and its applications in addressing contemporary issues.
