Call for Applications: Full Scholarships for Girls in Biomedical Laboratory Science

INES-Ruhengeri is pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity for young Rwandan women wishing to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Laboratory Science. This initiative is made possible through a partnership with YWCA Rwanda and funding support from the Scottish Government through Oxfam.

The goal of this scholarship program is to increase female participation in science-related fields and empower girls from vulnerable backgrounds to access quality higher education in applied sciences.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Rwandan girl aged 18–25 years (or up to 30 years for girls with disabilities)

  • Have completed Advanced Level studies between 2019 and 2023 with at least a grade A, B, or C in Biology and Chemistry

  • Not currently enrolled in any university or higher learning institution

  • Be from one of the following 10 districts:
    Kicukiro, Nyarugenge, Bugesera, Kayonza, Kamonyi, Muhanga, Gicumbi, Musanze, Rubavu, and Ngororero

  • Come from a vulnerable background, including but not limited to:
    girls with disabilities, young mothers, or those from low-income families

What the Scholarship Covers

The scholarship will fully cover tuition and related academic costs for the duration of the Biomedical Laboratory Science program.
